© 2011 -
All Jerusalem Artichokes offered have been grown on the farm for at least seven years, hand selected each year for trueness to type, lack of disease, smoothness and for yield.
Each tuber is inspected at harvest, again before being put into cold storage and a third time before being planted or sold. All these seed tubers are from stock we use on our farm.
All tubers are selected with at least 3 growing points, which is the traditional size to be used for seed Jerusalem Artichokes.
The modern practice of using large Jerusalem Artichokes for seed stock, from our experience gives inferior yields and the cutting of tubers gives rise to increased disease levels within the crop.
We generally expect yields of 3½ to 4½ lbs per plant.
Freshly dug Jerusalem Artichokes, this one is Stampede.
